How to Use MDelayMB for Incredible Creative Delay Effects

MeldaProduction MDelayMB is vastly more powerful than standard stock delays due to its complex multiband design. While most users only touch the basic delay times and feedback knobs, diving into the Edit Screen unlocks incredible, hidden sound-design potential.

Here are 5 hidden features in MDelayMB you should start using immediately: 1. Band Serial Mode (Creating “Cascading” Reverb Effects)

By default, MDelayMB processes its frequency bands in parallel. However, if you right-click the crossover section and activate Serial Mode, Band 1 feeds directly into Band 2, which then feeds into Band 3, and so on.

How to use it: Set Band 1 to a very short delay (e.g., 10–30ms) to act as early reflections. Let those reflections cascade into Band 2, which you can set to a longer, highly filtered delay. This turns your multiband delay into an ultra-lush, customized room or plate reverb simulation. 2. Envelope follower for Automatic Input Ducking

You do not need an external sidechain compressor to clean up your delay tails. MDelayMB has a built-in Envelope Follower located within its advanced Modulators panel.

How to use it: Open Modulator 1, switch the type to Follower, and use the “Learn” button to link it to the global Dry/Wet knob or the output level of a specific band. Invert the range so that when the input audio (like a lead vocal) gets loud, the delay ducks out of the way, and then blooms perfectly during pauses.
