The Ultimate Transwiz Tutorial for Windows Users

To transfer user profiles with ForensiT Transwiz, you compress a local or domain user profile into a single ZIP transfer archive on the old computer, then unpack and restore that archive on the new computer. This utility automatically moves personal documents, settings, and custom configurations across different Windows machines while adjusting operating system differences in transit. ⚠️ Pre-Requisites and Rules

Admin Rights: You must log into an account with local administrator permissions on both machines to complete this process.

Active Status: Never run Transwiz from inside the specific profile you intend to compress; it will lock files and fail. Log into a separate admin account instead.

Cloud Accounts: Transwiz natively supports standard domain and local accounts but does not support Microsoft Azure AD / Entra ID accounts.

Download: Secure the free standalone executable by downloading it directly from the ForensiT Downloads Page. Copy the tool to an external USB flash drive or shared network drive. Step 1: Export the Profile from the Old Computer

Log into a separate local administrator account on the old computer. Plug in your USB drive or connect to your network path. Run Transwiz.exe.

On the landing page, select “I want to transfer data to another computer” and click Next.

Highlight the exact user profile you want to back up from the list. Click Next.

Click Browse to choose your USB flash drive or network path as the output directory. Give the container file a recognizable name.

Choose whether to password-protect the transfer archive, then click Next to start the compression pipeline. Click Finish once the process finishes. Step 2: Import the Profile to the New Computer ForensiT Free Downloads
